La Griffe: Rooftop Bar & Restaurant with Skyline Views in Rome

The climb toward elegance, and a first impression suspended in the air

The La Griffe experience begins before you even reach the top of the hotel, part of the BZAR hotels group, at Via Nazionale 13.

Step inside and the pace of the city falls away, replaced by a modern, low-lit elegance and a welcome that feels attentive from the front desk on. The elevator carries you up to the 9th floor, and the ride alone marks the shift from the noise of the street to the mood of the restaurant and American bar. The design gets your senses ready for what waits at the top.

Rome takes center stage: the skyline

la griffe rooftop

Once you reach the 9th floor, the city opens up in full: one of the most complete and captivating views over the Eternal City, a visual embrace of Roman history. Your eye travels from the solemn white of the Vittoriano to the bell tower of St. Paul’s Within the Walls, before settling on the perfect curve of St. Peter’s dome.

It is striking at sunset, but the real magic happens during the blue hour, when the sun has dropped and Rome becomes pure visual bliss.

Aperitivo: signature mixology with a zero-waste approach

Aperitivo at La Griffe is not a quick stop, but a slow ritual meant to be enjoyed without rushing. The generous spacing between tables creates a rare sense of privacy, ideal for couples or families looking for a more exclusive setting.

While you wait, the soft rock of Elton John or the Red Hot Chili Peppers plays in the background, and the bartender turns mixology into storytelling. His experimental, zero-waste approach comes through in creations like the signature cocktail that reworks the pairing of butter and sage, an immediate hit of surprise and pleasure for any kind of guest.

Dinner: tradition and research

The kitchen on the 9th floor lifts Italian cooking, now a UNESCO heritage, into a balance of tradition and innovation. Each course is designed as a sensory and aromatic journey, and we let the restaurant manager guide us through it. We were won over by the freshness of the beef tartare with peach and purple potato, the crunch of the cod with an anchovy-and-vinegar mayonnaise, and the creaminess of the fettuccine Alfredo with a touch of truffle.

The service is attentive and warm, a lead role in its own right, turning dishes like the seared octopus or the dessert of fresh ricotta and ripe mango into lasting memories for the palate.

Celebrations above the clouds: private events and weddings with a view

events at la griffe rome

Beyond the everyday experience, La Griffe makes an ideal setting for turning private evenings and milestones into something memorable. On the 9th floor, the wide, light-filled spaces can be booked in full for corporate events and, above all, for elegant weddings with a panoramic view of Rome, backed by a dedicated menu that reflects the best of Italian cuisine.

For those who want to reach even higher, the panoramic terrace on the 10th floor, among the tallest and most spectacular in Rome, is available for more dynamic private events, complete with DJ sets and a lighter, more convivial menu. What stands out is the venue’s versatility: the upper terrace is not just for large events. Any guest can simply order a signature drink and head up to the 10th floor to take in the Roman skyline with friends or family, surrounded by one of the most captivating views over the city.

The emotional legacy: feeling expected, not just served

What stays with you after an evening at La Griffe is not only the wonder of the skyline, but a deeper sense of having been expected, not simply served. It is an experience that confirms the strength of the brand through effortless refinement and a staff that knows how to guide you with attentive, thoughtful gestures.

This is where Rome stops being a postcard and becomes an experience to live in, even for a single special evening. You head back down to the city with a genuine wish to return.

Where to eat the best gelato in Rome

Here are the best gelato spots in Rome

Looking for the best gelato in Rome? From historic gelaterias in the city center to creative artisan shops in Trastevere, Prati, Monti and beyond, Rome is home to some of Italy’s finest gelato. Whether you’re craving classic flavours like pistachio, hazelnut and stracciatella, refreshing fruit sorbets, vegan gelato or bold gourmet combinations, the Eternal City offers endless spots for an unforgettable cone or cup. Here’s our guide to the best gelato shops in Rome, including must-try addresses loved by locals and visitors alike.

How to spot real gelato in Rome

Not all gelato in Rome is made the same. A few signs give away the industrial stuff: gelato piled high in fluffy mountains, unnaturally bright colours (banana should be greyish, pistachio dull green, not neon), and metal tins covered with lids rather than open display. Real artisan gelato is stored flat in covered pozzetti or low in the tray, changes with the seasons, and the shop will happily tell you where the pistachio or hazelnut comes from. Expect to pay around €3 to €4 for a small cone, more in the centre.

Gelato San Lorenzo

GELATO_SAN_LORENZO_coppetta_fragola

Top Location: Via Tiburtina, 6 (San Lorenzo); Circonvallazione Nomentana 282-286; Via Gargano, 6/8 (Piazza Sempione); Piazza Alessandria, 19 (Porta Pia); Kiosk at Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, 106 (Gatsby Cafè)

Why: The main focus of owners Maurizio and Flavia of Gelato San Lorenzo is to create a model of pure gelato in Rome, with 100% natural ingredients, free of the added, unnatural substitutes that are often used to give gelato its taste, sweetness and consistency. In place of the usual thickeners, natural plant fibers bring out the creaminess you look for in a good gelato, with less sugar and less fat, keeping the full intensity of the taste. Every flavor is made fresh in-house each day, and there’s a wide vegan and no-added-sugar selection too.

Romeing recommends: raspberry and basil; the vegan avocado with lime, black pepper and sea salt; and sorbets like lemon and Roman mint or passion fruit with dark chocolate shavings.

Il Marchese: a Cosmopolitan Restaurant & Cocktail Bar in Rome

Meet il Marchese, Europe’s first amaro bar & Roman trattoria in Rome’s centro storico

Il Marchese unites the best of two worlds: a bar with elegant French salon accents, pompous chandeliers, and a restaurant with the coziness of a Roman trattoria. But it’s not just the décor that’s impressive. When you walk into Il Marchese you step inside Europe’s first Amaro bar with more than 500 different Amaro labels.

Opened in 2018 in an eighteenth-century palazzo on Via di Ripetta, a few steps from the Ara Pacis and the city’s fashion streets, Il Marchese is the work of Davide Solari and Lorenzo Renzi, friends since their school days.

What began here has since become a name that now extends across Italy. After Rome came Milan in 2022, followed by a summer location in Poltu Quatu on the Costa Smeralda, and a mountain opening in Courmayeur for the 2025-26 winter season. The Rome address, though, remains the original: an intimate Roman house looking onto the street, in the heart of the city yet tucked away like a private drawing room.

During the 2021 G20 in Rome, Il Marchese had two special customers: the American First Lady Jill Biden and the French Première Dame Brigitte Macron. The two ladies said they were “delighted with the lovely welcome”, complimenting the staff and the quality of the products.

il-marchese-ristorante-cocktail-bar-rome
il-marchese-restaurant-and-amaro-bar-in-rome

Il Marchese takes its name from the Marchese del Grillo, made famous by Alberto Sordi in the classic Italian film: a true gentleman, always inclined to irony, a lover of tradition but equally at ease with those who come from different cultures. That double soul, the aristocrat and the everyman, runs through the whole place.

Cocktail bar & Amaro Bar

The amaro and cocktail bar at Il Marchese pays tribute to the elegance of nineteenth-century French aristocracy, with fine stuccoes, wallpapers and velvets. Leading it is Fabrizio Valeriani, the group’s bar manager, who designs the seasonal drink lists across all the venues.

The mixology here has always centred on amaro. Il Marchese was the first in Europe to open an amaro bar, with around 500 labels from the start, ranging from the most prestigious names to small local producers. The drink list is built around this and changes roughly twice a year.

Il Marchese: Via di Ripetta's Cocktail & Amaro Bar

The heart of it is the Americano section, with six variations, each made with a different amaro and marked on the menu by its level of sweetness or bitterness. The Americano n°1, always on the list, blends Campari, Cinzano 1797 red vermouth, Velluto Braulio Riserva, black tea soda with pear and cinnamon, and chocolate bitters. Alongside it you’ll find the Twist on Classic drinks, where the Cavaliere di Franciacorta has become a signature, a selection of Luxurious cocktails for something more special, and a line of low-ABV options for drinking well with less alcohol, including a Negroni Zero.

il-marchese-restaurant-centro-storico-rome

A refined Roman trattoria

In the kitchen is Roman chef Daniele Roppo, with Solari and Renzi since the very first opening and now executive chef across all the venues. His cooking has strong Roman roots, drawing on traditional recipes lightened for a contemporary palate, with vegetarian dishes on the menu too.

Quality comes first. Ingredients are sourced from local producers: the guanciale is from Re Norcino in Ascoli Piceno, an award-winning producer, and the pecorino is from Cibaria.

il-marchese-ristorante-centro-storico-roma

Among the starters, don’t miss the bollito croquette with green sauce, a Roman dish from Roppo’s grandmother. The first courses are a tribute to the “Roman poker” of Carbonara, Amatriciana, Gricia and Cacio e pepe, served in the restaurant’s iconic little pan. Also worth trying is the tortello filled with porcini, finished with butter and Parmesan. Among the mains are the veal fillet cooked as a saltimbocca and the lamb meatball “alla scottadito”, plus lighter options like a Caesar salad or mixed greens with citrus-marinated salmon and guacamole.

Desserts are all homemade, from the great classic of Italian pastry, tiramisù (in both the traditional and pistachio versions), to a plate of three chocolates, salted caramel and popcorn.

carbonara-il-marchese-roma

So how do you describe Il Marchese? A place with two souls, mixing Roman recipes with a contemporary twist and countless amaro labels, a new way of spending time together in contemporary Rome, seven days a week, from 12pm to 2am. Quality food, quality drinks and quality people, all day long.

A’Mano – Bar & Dining

A cocktail bar and Italian tapas in Rome’s historic centre

In the historic centre of Rome, a short walk from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, there’s an elegant yet easy-going hideaway. Its name is A’Mano: a place for a cocktail, an aperitivo with tapas, or a relaxed dinner.

A’Mano sits inside Dimora Coppelle, a boutique hotel from the BZAR Hotels group, housed in a striking Renaissance building that welcomes guests through an imposing sixteenth-century arched portal. History is in the air from the moment you step in: the palazzo was once the residence of Pope Urban VII.

Aperitivo and signature cocktails near the Pantheon

Whether you’re after a well-earned break at the end of a long day, a romantic toast for two or an evening with friends in the heart of Rome, A’Mano adapts to the occasion. It’s the kind of place made for stepping out of the city’s rhythm for a couple of hours.

signature cocktails at A'Mano cocktail bar, Rome

The drinks list is wide and full of character. Signature cocktails, carefully made and named after Italian icons of music, film and art, sit alongside selected regional wines. Try the Caravaggio, an intense, powerful punch as singular as the work of the great seventeenth-century painter, or the Sophia, as striking and distinctive as the actress who inspired it.

Alongside the drinks comes a wide range of Italian tapas, made to be tasted and shared around the table. The dishes are built in dialogue with the bar list, for a dinner that’s lighter and more sociable than the usual sit-down affair.

Open from 6pm, A’Mano turns dinner into something more dynamic, built on the quick, easy rhythm of tasting and sharing.

Table set with Italian tapas at A'Mano cocktail bar, Rome

The menu moves lightly through traditional flavours reworked in a contemporary key. In the evening the focus is on local-inspired dishes, like the handmade garganelli with Italian roasted peppers and Calabrian liquorice, or the Maremmana beef rump with brown jus, potatoes and tonka bean. To finish, the Vignola IGP cherries with chocolate, thyme and vanilla are worth saving room for.

A’Mano is a place designed to be lingered in: time slows down, conversations stretch out, and every sip and every bite becomes part of the evening, wrapped in the atmosphere of one of Rome’s most historic corners.

VICO Pizza&Wine

Piazza Rondanini, 47 (Pantheon)
06.87809501
vicopizzaandwine.com

Just steps from the Pantheon, VICO has rewritten the very idea of what a pizzeria can be: a late 16th-century palazzo with frescoed ceilings, a Tudor coat of arms, Art Nouveau boiserie and contemporary artworks on the walls, which has earned it the nickname of “the most beautiful pizzeria in the world”. The star of the show, however, is still the pizza, contemporary in style and awarded 3 Spicchi by Gambero Rosso: a 24-hour leavened dough, remarkably light fried starters (don’t miss the Montanarina Bomba Marinara) and signature double-cooked pizzas, first fried and then baked, like the Margherita Vico. It all pairs with a wine list of around 110 labels, awarded Best Pizzeria Wine List at Milano Wine Week.

Avenida Calò

Viale Pinturicchio, 38 (Flaminio)
06.89238209
avenidacalo.it

Avenida Calò is a small, well-curated pizzeria, minimal but never pretentious, with around fifty seats, raw-wood tables, perfectly judged lighting and an atmosphere that encourages you to slow down. Here, the dough is the real signature – structured, fragrant and highly digestible – and while pizza is the star, it isn’t the only option: the menu also includes starters and kitchen dishes for a more restaurant-style experience. Then there’s the wine: nearly 150 labels, a cornerstone of the project, which proudly defines itself as an “enopizzeria.” Sharing is part of the formula too, thoughtfully encouraged so you can taste more, and taste better. Avenida Calò cemented its reputation in the 50 Top Pizza Italia 2026 ranking, placing 6th nationwide, one of only two Roman pizzerias in the country’s top ten alongside Seu Pizza Illuminati.

Pizza-making class: learn to make the perfect pizza near Trevi

Learn the secrets behind the perfect pizza!  You will learn how to recognise the types of doughs and how to make the perfect pizza with a professional pizza maker in a pizzeria near Trevi Fountain.

What is the difference between Roman and Neapolitan pizza?

Roman pizza is thin, flat and crispy, known locally as “scrocchiarella”, while Neapolitan pizza has a soft, elastic base with a high, airy crust called cornicione. Rome is one of the few cities where you can eat both styles at the highest level, along with pizza al taglio, sold by the slice and by weight.

Where can I eat great pizza in Rome’s city center?

Near the Pantheon, VICO Pizza&Wine serves award-winning contemporary Neapolitan pizza in a frescoed 16th-century palazzo. Emma and Antico Forno Roscioli are excellent near Campo de’ Fiori, Piccolo Buco is steps from the Trevi Fountain, and in Trastevere you’ll find Seu Pizza Illuminati, Ai Marmi, Ivo and L’Elementare.

How much does pizza cost in Rome?

In a traditional Roman pizzeria, a margherita costs around €7-9, while gourmet and contemporary pizzerias charge roughly €10-16 for signature pizzas. Pizza al taglio is sold by weight and a generous slice usually costs €3-5, making it Rome’s best quick lunch.

What is pizza al taglio?

Pizza al taglio is pizza baked in large rectangular trays and sold by the slice, priced by weight. You point at the varieties you want, choose how big a piece, and eat it on the go. Historic spots like Pizzarium, Antico Forno Roscioli and Forno Campo de’ Fiori are the benchmarks in Rome.

Gelato San Lorenzo

Gelato made in-house every day with all-natural ingredients, including vegan and no-added-sugar options

There’s a real difference between the gelato you grab out of desperation and the one you seek out on purpose. After enough plastic tubs of swirly, unnaturally bright heaps, you start looking for something more serious. Gelato San Lorenzo is that something: born in its namesake San Lorenzo neighborhood from a project by Maestro Gelatiere Maurizio Dattilo, it reads Italian gelato through a contemporary lens, and has been named among the best gelaterias in Italy.

GELATO_SAN_LORENZO_coppetta_fragola

Gelato that lets the ingredients speak

The philosophy here is one of subtraction. No artificial additives, no emulsifiers, no hydrogenated or refined fats, no synthetic colors or flavors. Every flavor is made with carefully selected raw materials, and in place of the usual thickeners the gelato relies on natural plant fibers, with less sugar and less fat, keeping the full intensity and honesty of the taste.

Alongside the great Italian classics, there’s a wide selection of vegan and no-added-sugar flavors, from Raw Almond from the Val di Noto to Sicilian Pistachio and Dark Chocolate made with raw coconut sugar: a line for anyone who wants a more balanced treat without giving up the pleasure of gelato.

The flavors of a Roman summer

Among the house favorites, Raspberry and Basil has become a small classic. In summer the spotlight also falls on the Avocado with Lime, Black Pepper and Sea Salt flakes, fully vegan and with no added sugar, along with fresh sorbets like Lemon and Roman Mint, Passion Fruit with dark chocolate shavings, and an intense Absolute Ginger.

Gelato San Lorenzo corner in Rome

A gelato that picks its settings, the most beautiful in Rome

Beyond its own shops, Gelato San Lorenzo turns up as kiosks and corners inside some of the city’s loveliest spots, turning a simple break into a very Roman experience. Picture a walk through Villa Borghese followed by a cone in the shade of the Casina del Lago or in front of the Casa del Cinema.

Or an afternoon among the avenues of Villa Torlonia, with a stop at the elegant La Limonaia. There’s a break at Castel Sant’Angelo, with the Tiber and its bridges in view, or a gelato at the Serre Barberini after visiting the Gallerie Nazionali di Palazzo Barberini.

For a more design-led setting, there’s Casadante, and for a contemporary mood, Gelato San Lorenzo is a partner of W Rome. Because even a gelato made in Rome can become an experience: the scent of the gardens, the golden evening light and the history around every corner make each taste a little more special.

Merisù, a sweet corner in the heart of Trastevere

The iconic Tiramisù dessert becomes a treat for all senses as customers experience its preparation live.

If you’re in need of a pick-me-up as you promenade the alleys of Trastevere, or if you’re craving an affordable post-meal dessert, you can’t go wrong with the refreshing tiramisù offerings of this charming store located on Via San Francesco A Ripa, just off Viale Trastevere: Merisù

TIRAMISHOW-merisu-rome

Here, tiramisù is more than a sweet treat, it’s a ritual. Every single portion is prepared on the spot: you get to watch – via mirror – as the lovely staff of Merisù perform the Tiramishow® behind the counter and assemble one of the best tiramisù in Rome, live.

You experience tiramisù through all senses: smell the aroma of artisanal coffee, brewed in a Neapolitan moka, as it soaks the crunchy savoiardi biscuits, the basis for the dessert. Watch as a fluffy layer of mascarpone cream provides the sweet texture, ennobled by cocoa and the toppings of your choice.

Here, you get to pick between a dozen different enticing flavors. Apart from the Tradizionale, the original tiramisù recipe which you must try at least once, there are versions with various creams and toppings to choose from, including strawberries, pistachio, Nutella, and Oreo. The signature Merisù blends the mascarpone cream with Marsala liqueur-infused eggnog, while the Romano is made with Gentilini biscuits instead of the classic savoiardi. There is even a salty option: Ti Porto Al Cinema with popcorn and salted caramel (no coffee in this one!). Plus, for variety, a different special is added to the menu every month.

Inclusivity is at the forefront here, and Merisù has a treat for everyone: customers can ask for a decaf version, as well as lactose free, vegan, and gluten-free tiramisù. Most options come in three sizes.

Merisù is celebrating its 10th anniversary by launching their official coffee blend: Merisù – Italian Espresso Blend, in collaboration with F.lli Bonacchi Caffè of Terroir. The blend creates a powerful coffee and gives that unmistakable aroma to every spoonful of your tiramisù.

The Merisù brand was founded in 2016 by Neapolitan entrepreneur Antonio Zullo; the name itself honors and celebrates the memory of the women in his family and their tiramisù-making tradition. A decade into this delicious adventure, Merisù has become a franchise, with branches opening in other countries: Spain, Poland, and even overseas to the United States. Merisù is exporting not just an iconic dessert, but a way for people to experience a piece of Italian culture abroad.

The success of Merisù is a testament to the power of authenticity. The entertaining Tiramishow® displays the genuine ingredients and simple gestures that Italian families have used to make homemade tiramisù for generations, without too many frills. It’s an ode to simplicity, to the magic of tradition, while the various flavors add creative twists to a beloved classic.

merisu-tiramisu-rome-trastevere

Here at the original store in Trastevere, the welcoming smiles of the Merisù staff will make you instantly feel at home as soon as you walk in – whether you sit down or stand to take your tiramisù to go – as if you were watching a friend prepare your dessert in their kitchen. Warmth exudes from the eyes of Paola, the store manager, who has been here for nearly a decade and treats each tiramisù with the same care as if she was making it for her family.

Experience the magic of tiramisù at the Trastevere store, or take it to go if you’re in a rush. You can even order Merisù online via Deliveroo, although you would be missing out on the Tiramishow®.

Tiramisù aficionados can also purchase Merisù gadgets and their coffee blend, to carry this memory with them long after they’ve left Rome.

A rooftop cocktail bar in Monti with panoramic views, craft cocktails, and a chic industrial atmosphere

One of our most beloved neighborhoods in the heart of Rome’s city center is Monti. Rione Monti is an eclectic neighborhood where classic meets bohemian: the Colosseum is a stone’s throw away, yet the neighborhood is full of hip restaurants, shops, and creatives left and right.

DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti brings a fresh perspective to one of Rome’s most vibrant neighborhoods, offering guests and locals a stylish setting where contemporary hospitality meets the timeless charm of the city. From its elegant interiors to its panoramic rooftop, the hotel invites visitors to experience Rome throughout the day and into the evening, with Mùn Rooftop Cocktail Bar as one of its standout highlights.

Of the three sister restaurants that are part of Enjoy Roma Monti, we have Mùn Rooftop: a dual space cocktail lounge bar and rooftop on the 8th floor of the hotel that transports guests to sky level, making the stars and moon seem right at your fingertips. The panoramic views showcase some of Rome’s most beautifully iconic places and sites, from overlooking the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore to admiring Gianicolo Hill and the industrial Gasometro di Roma from a distance. A 360 view of the Eternal City that will be sure to leave you speechless.

DoubleTree_Rome_Monti_Mùn_Rooftop_Bar_Night

Mùn is not just any rooftop bar, as the architectural and interior designs are well worth mentioning. Upon stepping out of the all-glass elevator, you are first welcomed to the cozy inside lounge and cocktail bar. There is an effortless flow and balance between warm Tuscan orange tones on the walls, wooden tables mixed with rustic chairs, and slate gray metallic fixtures, creating an environment that is elevated and chic with some modern hints.

As you step outside to the rooftop outside space, not only are you met with the views mentioned above but also with a warm, yet refreshing breeze during the summer nights with the light of the moon. Relax under the oversized umbrellas and couches, or choose a high-top table to enjoy your cocktail of choice with those you love.

Indulge yourself with drinks signed by Mùn’s very own bartenders. Cocktails are elegant and contemporary while still incorporating the heart of traditional Italian mixology. They also have a great selection of wines, beers and non-alcoholic choices. Pair your beverage with an aperitivo accompanied by tapas.

Mùn is open everyday from 5.30 pm to 12.00 am and is accessible to the public, not just to the hotel guests.

Da Alceste is a historical fish restaurant in Anzio, a point of reference for seafood cuisine and the portodanzese tradition. Among the first courses, you’ll find big classics like spaghetti with clams or with anchovies and pecorino as well as main courses with a vintage taste like pesce all’acqua pazza, fresh fish, cooked in a flavorful broth, or guazzetto di pesce, a wholesome fish stew. The beautiful terrace is worth a mention.

Gelateria Cremilla

Discover Italian excellence one scoop at a time

Every bite becomes a real journey through Italy and the world, thanks to various gelato flavours and regional pastries. Cremilla tells us a story of local farmers and food artisans committed to creating a product where taste and quality meet naturally.

Strategically located almost halfway between Castel Sant Angelo and San Peter’s Basilica, just a few meters away from Borgo Pio, this ice cream parlour is the perfect spot for enjoying truly authentic ice cream without falling into a “tourist trap”.

You won’t need to get lost in the city’s narrow and cobbled streets to find real Italian products: Cremilla gives you a chance to taste a deliciously creamy and fresh ice cream while you are walking in the lively area around Castel Sant Angelo, visiting the city’s main hotspots.

The ice cream shop was opened in 2018 and it managed to thrive through the pandemic, constantly adapting to the costumer’s needs. Besides a great selection of ice cream, Cremilla offers fresh seasonal juices, crepes – either plain or chocolate, flavoured waffles, pancakes, smoothies, milkshakes and organic yoghurt.

At Cremilla, you can find the traditional Sicilian cannoli (a crunchy fried wafer filled with sheep’s ricotta cream) and brioches. Or, to fight the summer heat, a refreshing crunchy granita can be a great choice.

When you order a gelato in Rome expect to be asked quite a few questions. As it is better to be prepared, let’s see what this is about.

Apart from the classic choice between cone or cup, don’t be surprised if the gelataio/a will also ask if you want melted chocolate (white chocolate or gianduja) at the bottom of the cone or whipped cream on top. It is one of the free, little, precious joys of eating ice cream in Italy.

Old school flavours such as stracciatella and crema alternate with other seasonal tastes depending on the availability of the product and the creativity of the staff.  We recommend trying brand-new flavours such as mint and liquorice, although the salted caramel with crunchy almonds is hard to pass up.

Fruit flavoured gelato is made using more than 50% seasonal fresh fruit delivered daily, while cream flavoured ones are made only with local organic milk and eggs. For its gelato, Cremilla only uses Sicilian carob flour as natural thickener in order to obtain a free of artificial additive flavour.

The gelato is mixed continuously in the kitchen lab so that it feels real, swift, and fresh at every bite. Most products are made on-site daily – there’s even a glass panel on the floor so that you can see the kitchen in action.

Unlike other gelaterie where the seating area can be quite limited, Cremilla, thanks to an inclusive interior design, invites visitors to take a seat and enjoy a moment of pure happiness.

Singer Palace Hotel: a rooftop getaway

A rooftop cocktail bar in the heart of the historic center

Rome has a flavour all its own: poetic, vibrant and effortlessly grand. And there is perhaps no better way to experience that unmistakable Dolce Vita feeling than from a rooftop cocktail bar, with the Eternal City stretching out all around you. One place that truly stands out is the rooftop of the Singer Palace Hotel.

singer-palace-rome

Perched above the bustling streets of the historic centre, the terrace feels like a secret urban escape. Surrounded by Roman rooftops, domes and bell towers, it offers memorable views over the city and a privileged location just a short walk from Piazza Venezia, directly off Via del Corso.

It is an inviting destination at almost any time of day, whether you are stopping for a refreshing break while sightseeing, enjoying an aperitivo at golden hour or settling in for a relaxed after-dinner drink. The atmosphere is refined without ever feeling formal, while the attentive staff make both hotel guests and outside visitors feel genuinely welcome.

Inside, Jim’s Bar has a cosy atmosphere reminiscent of a contemporary speakeasy. Outside, however, the view takes centre stage, creating an evocative setting in which to enjoy a drink above the rooftops of central Rome.

The bar keeps things stylish and understated, with an extensive selection of spirits alongside classic cocktails and original creations. Behind the cocktail programme is bar manager Federica Geirola, a recognised name in contemporary mixology.

federica-geirola-singer-palace

Her signature cocktail, the Yumi, combines Marendry, Amarena Fabbri bitter, cherry syrup, lime and aquafaba. Fresh, balanced and particularly enjoyable on a summer evening, it is the kind of drink that perfectly complements the warm golden light falling over Rome at sunset.

The creation earned Federica Geirola first place in the Lady Amarena Italia competition in 2021. It can be found alongside her other signature drinks in the “From Jim’s with Love” section of the cocktail menu. Gin lovers can also try Seven Hills, a gin inspired by and produced in Rome.

The menu includes some finger food options and delicious dishes (as well as vegan, vegetarian, and more), hence spending time on the terrace is a well rounded experience. You can pick between classic cocktails and original concoctions, all served with a variety of savory snacks. If you find yourself wanting more of Singer’s exquisite cuisine, you can also reserve a table at Le Terrazze restaurant, for lunch or dinner, and enjoy it on the amazing mediterranean styled terrace one floor below.

With so many unique traits, the magical atmosphere, and careful attention to detail, it’s incredible to think that the hotel, terrace and stunning rooftop have only been open for about 8 years. Without giving anything else away, keep the Singer’s rooftop in mind next time you’re in Rome and looking for your unique rooftop getaway.

From the sixth floor, you can experience a 360 ° view of the ancient beauties of the city: Piazza della Bocca della Verità with the basilica of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, the temples of the Foro Boario and the Theater of Marcellus.

At the helm of the brigade, chef Maurizio Lustrati, whose CV boasts an important past in the Hotellerie world both in Italy and abroad. Equally valuable is the collaboration with chef Gabriele Enrico, food & beverage consultant for some of the world’s leading luxury hotel chains.

Seasonality is the guiding thread of the entire culinary offering: spring vegetables, aromatic herbs and local ingredients become the key elements of a dynamic and ever-evolving cuisine. Great attention is also paid to short supply chains and the quality of local produce, in line with the sustainable vision of 47 Boutique Hotel.

Within this context, “47 Hortus” plays a central role: a privately owned estate of approximately four hectares located in the Marturanum Regional Park, in the Tuscia region, dedicated to organic farming and home to over 400 olive trees. It is here that 47 extra virgin olive oil is produced—100% Italian and cold-extracted— and served daily at the table exclusively at 47 Circus Roof Garden.

Aurora Bistrot: a special aperitivo in front of the Fori Imperiali

Just steps from the Colosseum, you can enjoy a breakfast, lunch, or an aperitivo at the stylish Aurora Bistrot in Monti

Whether you’re walking over from the Colosseum or the Fori ImperialiAurora Bistrot & Bar awaits you inside the elegant Nerva Boutique Hotel.

The moment we stepped inside, we were immediately impressed by the attention to detail. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, blending modern design and nostalgic charm; the candles cast a soft glow, and the art on the walls adds a creative touch to a place that is both warm and sophisticated.

Breakfast: The Aurora Bistrot Way

Start your morning right at Aurora Bistrot, with their homemade whole wheat banana pancakes, made with berries and maple syrup – or opt for the chocolate version for a sweet twist. Their homemade pie of the day is always a treat, or you can enjoy a fresh seasonal fruit salad for something lighter.

For something hearty, go for the organic cereals and muesli with your choice of yogurt or milk. If you’re craving an authentic Italian flavor, instead, don’t miss the Caprese salad with fresh Stracciatella and Naples tomatoes – a perfect way to fuel your day.

At Aurora Bistrot, lunch is a real delight

With a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, their menu features delicious homemade bites served in a relaxed yet lively setting.

For lunch or brunch, try the avocado toast with smoked Norwegian salmon, or the wholegrain banana pancakes with berries. Another favourite of ours is the bruschetta with stracciatella, fresh truffle and Neapolitan tomatoes: a must! The menu also includes colourful salads, such as the “Puglia”, with avocado, tomatoes, stracciatella, cucumber and cornbread, or the “Tropical”, a more exotic option with mango and sumac.

And, for cheese lovers, we recommend you don’t miss the premium selection of cold cuts and cheeses – like Pecorino al Tartufo and Stracciatella di Puglia.

The Aurora Spritz: From 4pm Until Late

As the evening rolls in, Aurora Bistrot is the perfect place to enjoy a traditional Italian aperitivo with a modern note.

For Spritz aficionados who want to stay true to the classic recipe while adding a twist, you absolutely must try the “Aurora Spritz.” Sparkling, citrusy, and refreshing, it’s made with Prosecco for a delightful kick.

Instead, if you’re open to broadening your cocktail horizons, in addition to traditional favorites, Aurora Bistrot offers an impressive selection of signature cocktails. Some of our absolute favorites include “Nero The Cruel,” made with mezcal and red fruits, “Livia’s Garden,” a gin-based creation, and last but not least, “Augustus Whisper,” a vodka-based cocktail with a unique touch.

To go with the drinks, we couldn’t resist their taglieri (charcuterie boards), which are perfect for sharing. Our favorite was the Patanegra and mortadella paired with 48-month-aged Parmigiano, but also, you’ll definitely want to try the premium selection with Pecorino Romano al TartufoGorgonzola Arioli, and Stracciatella di Puglia. For something a little different, we tried the crispy homemade spring rolls and Bajias, which matched wonderfully with our drinks.

Five O’Clock Means Spritz… But Sometimes It’s Tea Time!

Not in the mood for an alcoholic aperitivo? No worries – there are also fresh, healthy smoothies on the menu. We highly recommend the “Tropical Sunrise” made with mango, banana, and orange. Alternatively, you can try one of their refreshing virgin cocktails, like the “Virgin Moscow Mule” or the “Virgin Mojito.”

Also, if you’re in the mood for something warm, Aurora Bistrot has you covered. From 4 PM onwards, you can also enjoy a relaxing break with a selection of premium hot teas, served with homemade cookies and the sensational cake of the day crafted by their talented chef, Antonella. We absolutely loved the peach jam crostata – a true highlight.

Live Music Nights

Aurora Bistrot also hosts live music evenings, mainly dedicated to jazz, with changing line-ups ranging from trios to duos with a singer. Events usually take place from 5.30pm to 9.00pm, more frequently on weekends, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. For the latest schedule and details, guests can check Aurora’s Instagram profile.

We Loved It, and You Probably Will Too

Aurora Bistrot isn’t just a spot to grab a drink or snack. Whether you’re here for a cocktail, sharing a charcuterie board, or relaxing with tea and pastries, you’ll feel right at home.

We loved the friendly atmosphere, the focus on quality, and the charm of the place. It’s the kind of spot where time slows down, and you can truly enjoy life the Italian way. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Rome, we’re pretty sure you’ll love it as much as we did.
